Speak out in support of a strong global plastics treaty

Enact a Strong Global Plastics Treaty!

In March 2022, recognizing the dire need to reduce plastic pollution on a global scale, leaders and representatives from 175 countries endorsed a historic resolution at the United Nations Environment Assembly to develop a Global Plastics Treaty.
Unfortunately, the United States – which leads the world in creating plastic waste – is failing to step up. Unlike stronger commitments made by the other countries, the U.S. currently lacks the will needed to make this an effective treaty.
In coordination with our network of global Surfrider affiliates, we are demanding more. Specifically, Surfrider is calling on the Trump administration to agree to binding measures to reduce single-use plastic production, including holding producers responsible for phasing out plastic production and ending single-use plastics.
