Stop the Williams Fracked Gas Pipeline in New Jersey--AGAIN
A fracked gas pipeline that Surfrider Foundation already defeated twice is back, but NJ Governor Sherrill has the authority to deny this project for a third time--Tell her to stop this bad pipeline once again!
The Williams Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) pipeline project proposes to transport fossil fuels more than 35 miles through New Jersey, under the New York-New Jersey Harbor, and connect to existing infrastructure off Rockaway Beach in New York. To continue this project, the company needs a water quality permit from the State of New Jersey.
The pipeline threatens ocean health, environmental quality, and coastal recreation, and puts us on the wrong track to combat climate change. The project will increase air pollution from onshore compressor stations in New Jersey, and stir up polluted sediment in Raritan Bay. Rigorous research shows that the proposed pipeline is not only a safety hazard, but completely unnecessary for energy needs.
Please help us stop this unnecessary and polluting fossil fuel project once again! Urge Governor Sherrill to deny the project by completing our action alert.
