Tell Congress to Protect Our Coasts From Offshore Oil Drilling

The Trump administration is pursuing a dangerous new offshore drilling plan that will open vast stretches of U.S. coastlines to new offshore oil and gas drilling. The Department of Interior is proposing oil and gas drilling off California, the Gulf of Mexico, including the previously protected waters off of Florida, as well as Alaska and the pristine High Arctic, where drilling has never been attempted before because of the hazards. Nearly 1.3 billion acres of our ocean are under threat in this plan.
Congressional opposition is critical to stopping new offshore drilling — please tell Congress to protect our coasts!
While the Department of Interior’s public comment period on the draft proposal ended on January 23, a final decision on the offshore drilling plan is not expected until later 2026. We must continue to urge our federal leaders to stop this dangerous proposal from being enacted. Congress is our last line of defense to protect our coasts from new oil and gas development!
Offshore drilling is a dirty and dangerous practice that harms the environment, communities, and businesses, while worsening climate change. Further, new oil and gas leasing is not needed to meet our nation’s energy needs. The U.S. has been a net oil exporter since 2020, and hit an all-time high of domestic oil production in 2024.
Please tell your representatives in Congress that you support the protection of all U.S. coastlines from new oil and gas development! It’s time to end new offshore drilling for good!
